Java is a programming language developed by Sun Micro systems. A browser with a built-in Java translator can accept small programs called Java Applets located on or linked to a web page and run them. Such a feature has the potential to add tremendously exciting interactive functions to a web page. A person shopping on the web for a car or home-loan, for instance can download a calculator applet from a web page and figure out monthly payments on the spot. ActiveX is a set of controls developed at Microsoft Cooperation. It does for Web pages what OLE (object linking and embedding) does for office applications; that is, it provides a contain ring method whereby one application can be launched within another. Thus, ActiveX allows you to do things like edit a Word or word-perfect document while in your browser or, conversely, edit a Web page within your word processor. Likewise, you can use ActiveX controls to embed animations into Web pages just as you might do with a Java applet. It is developed by Microsoft and it allows you to do changes according to your requirement in a web page. Some browsers supports Java applets default and some browser don't so for that you have to download ActiveX.
