    Uganda is a country of eastern Africa. The total area of the country has been estimated almost 241,040 square kilometers. Kampala is the capital of this country. English is the official language of the country but Swahili is also used widely. There are several religions are seen in Uganda, such as Roman Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam as well as other traditional religions. Ugandan shilling is the official currency. According to the cencus report of the year 2000, the population was estimated around 23,301,000.

    The country, Uganda is basically situated on a plateau. In the eastern and western border of the country there are volcanic mountains. Mount Elgon is the highest pick of Uganda. There are several lakes in the country. Lake Victoria has occupied almost all the parts of its southern border. Other lakes are Lake Albert, Edward, George and Bisina. The entire country is traversed by the river Nile. The economy of Uganda is based on food processing and agriculture. Fishing as well as livestock raisings is also important from the economical view of the country. Some manufacturing and mining are also coming to the first page.  

    The head of the government of Uganda is called the president and it has one legislative house. By the 19th century the country were separated in several independence kingdoms. Arab traders visited the territory in the year of 1840 and the first European exploration was taken place in the year of 1862. In the year of 1894 Buganda was accepted as a British province. After de-touched from Buganda, Uganda achieved its independence in the year of 1962 and adopted a republican constitution in the year of 1967. Under Idi Amin the country was under military command. The military government was over thrown in the year of 1978. Again the military government took the charge in the year of 1985 and again it turned down in the next year. A new constitution was passed by the new constituent assembly in the year of 1995.
