    Anne Tyler, one of the greatest United States writers of the modern era, was the writer of this popular novel. She was born on 25th October 1941 in Minneapolis in the United States. In the first days of her career she worked as a bibliographer. She was quite a famous bibliographer of that time. Anne's point of view on the subject o the Bible made her different from others. She also practiced as a librarian.

    Anne Tyler settled in Baltimore in the year of 1967. From that year she started writing as a full timer. The compassionate wit and precise details of domestic life were paid high attention in all of her novels and comedies. 'Dinner at the homesick restaurant' was published in 1982, 'The accidental tourist' was published as a book in 1985 and it was the subject of the film of the same name which was released in 1988.

    Her best creation was 'Breathing lessons' which was published in the year of 1988. The book was accepted widely across the world and got the Pulitzer Prize of the year. 'A patchwork planet' was also a good success for the writer and it was brought out in the year 1998.
