Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The word fondant came from the Old French fondre and Latin fundere, meaning "to melt'. Fondant, being a central to the production of confection, is used as a filling or coating for fancy cakes, creamy pastries, and butterfly candies or sweets.

It is basically prepared with sugar and water. They are mixed together and boiled to have a soft-ball type. Then it is cooled slightly and beaten to take a form of creamy substance. It can be stored also in this state.

The fondant is primarily used as a coating for cake or pastries. It can be used as a substitute for white chocolate.
