Can I Be Prevented From Quitting My Position And Accepting Another Job? If I Have Unique Knowledge Or Skills. Can The Government Or Employer Keep Me From Leaving A Job?

I am a project manager who does work with the power industry and federal government. I was offered a position at another company. I was told I could not leave at this time because my work is essential and in the national interest to navy, federal government contracts. It is essential, and I am very involved in the work. It would delay or prevent the contracts from being fulfilled. Can I be forced to stay.

If it is in your national interest then in this case you'd be forced. It is because national interests are always greater than the individual interest. So you can tell the other company that you'd join after your project will be finished.

I just read the rest of the question, and I hold a Top Secret Security Clearance! It sounds like their might be a conflict here! However their are secure people other than your Direct boss, who I would consider bias, to which you can totally explain the problems, and papers you can sign and agree to!

If you sign those papers though, you just burnt a bridge! And can't come back to that job, they WILL Black Ball You!

My Mother said the quickest way to find a job is to have one!

So you can look and put on your application DO NOT contact my employer!
      YOU GO FOR IT, CUZ!
