Just as they celebrate Cinco De Mayo in Mexico (and I am not sure the dates in other countries)

It is the claiming of independence from another controlling country.

I have always been amazed at the various holidays and  how many people celebrate them because everyone else is instead of what they were intended for. Labor Day, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, MLK Day, Presidents Day, the list goes on.

We celebrate the 4th of july to celebrate our independence from the britians who were taxing the colonists and on july 4th 1776 America was born and had independence from Britain this was a huge step for america cause if we never gained our independence then where would we be today.?
