You could be forgiven for thinking that the first birth ever mentioned in the Bible was that of God's creations Adam or Eve, however, the first birth recorded in the Bible is in fact that of Cain, the first son of Adam and Eve. The story is told in the Hebrew Bible at Genesis 4. In the story Cain has a brother called Able. Cain commits the first murder in the Bible by killing his brother Able because he says that God has rejected his sacrifice, but accepted Abel's ~ humm, a bit of sibling rivalry there me thinks!
It is not known why God favours Able, which annoys Cain big time, so Cain sets out for revenge and kills him. When God asks where Abel is, Cain replies, 'Am I my brother's keeper?' However, Able has the last laugh on his brother resulting in Cain being banished to walk the Earth in fear of being killed forevermore.
Today if Cain and Abel were bickering and fighting all the time, we would simply call in Supernanny!

Hi, good answer, however I would like to add that the reason Able's offering was accepted was because it came from a pure and unselfish heart. Cain's was not accepted because his heart was haughty and God have given him time to repent, but he didn't instead he chose the way of sin and suffered the consequences of it. Genesis chapter 4.
