Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

No, not all seeds are rich in Omega 6 as alternative sources with richer content are available. But many seeds contain abundant portions of essential omega-6 essential fatty acids. The different sources of omega-6 including seeds are Safflower oil(the best source), Sunflower oil, Sesame oil, Corn oil, Hemp oil, Soybean oil, Walnut oil Pumpkin oil and Wheat germ oil.

Amongst seeds the content of omega-6 per 100 gm is: 58g in Linseed oil, 15-30g in linseeds, 68g in grape seed oil, 63 g in sunflower oil, 20g in pumpkin seeds, 30g in sunflower seeds and 25g in sesame seeds. But most seeds are also excellent sources of minerals, fiber, vitamins and proteins. Many fight free radicals and still others have anti cancerous properties. They do contain a lot of oil and are fattening when consumed in large quantities but their benefits to health are undeniable.
