    The easiest way to define a perioperative nurse is as an operating room nurse. A perioperative nurses are a type of registered nurses who assist in those activities that are necessary during the phase of surgery along with preoperative and postoperative stages of surgery. These nurses can work in the surgical departments of hospitals, day-surgery units, physician's offices and clinics. Their work involves coordination with the family members and patient requiring surgical treatment and helping them evaluate, plan and implement treatment.

    A perioperative nurse can perform either of two functions in an operating room they can take on the role of a circulating nurse or a scrub nurse. There are a lot of career opportunities open for a perioperative nurse. Average pay for a perioperative nurse exceeds $50,000/- USD.
