I did because I wanted to invest in my friends happiness. I am a single mother of two boys(10 and 7 months)and found it hard to come up with the money. The store doesn't take returns of any kind.

Personally I think that since you were making purchases on her behalf, she should at least pay for half,Depending on the reason you were cut. If it was a fallout between you two, then write the expense off and move on. You could post the sale of the dress in laundrymats, resale shops etc. If the cut was because of her trimming down her wedding, she should at least pay half. She knows you well enough to ask you to participate in her wedding, she also knows your family situation. No thoughts for the latter on her part is reflecting your true friendshiip.

Well where you suppose to be a bridesmaid in the beginning or did u invite your self if you where suppose to then i would talk to your friend about paying for the dress tell or try to sell it to another bridesmaid if you cant get the money from your friend or sell it then yes i would file a claim

I think that I would talk to my friend first and find out if she is going to give you back your money. Then go from there. But if you act to quickly in anger you could end up loosing a friend. So my suggestion would be to talk first calmly and rational then decide what to do.

They all seem to have good ideas, and I would also consider selling it on ebay, craigslist, local paper...ect.
