Utopian refers to Utopia, literally "no place" or "no location." It comes from Thomas More's book Utopia, wherein he described a paradisaical place. It is used today to mean some wonderful, imagined place or locale where there is no war, no crime, no disease, sort of a "heaven on Earth." I think of a Utopia being similar to what John Lennon described in his song, Imagine (imagine all the people, living life in peace. You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will live as one . . . .)
