One of the most debatable questions existed in the history of Britain is the existence of the King Arthur. Whether he was a real or imaginary is yet to be decided and therefore the year or even the century of his birth is impossible to decide.
      
King Arthur is considered as a very important figure in the British mythology and he was projected as the ideal person for kingship whether it is war time or the time of peace. It was he who was the central figure in the cycle of legends famously known as the Matter of Britain.
      
The first appearance of the name of the King Arthur can be found in the Welsh literature in the poem 'The Gododdin' that appeared around 594 A.D. However it is still a matter of debate that the poet had referred to the popular King Arthur or somebody else.
