What Covers Melasma?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Melasma is a kind of a tan or a discoloration of the skin. Anyone can get it, although women are more prone to it, particularly pregnant women.

This type of discoloration generally goes away over a few months. However, there are some measures to hurry up the process, such as the following:

Depigmenting agents like HQ can be obtained as OTC drugs if needed in a small dosage. Tretinoin which is a kind of acid, but it cannot be consumed at the time of pregnancy.

One can even use a facial peel with glycolic acid in it. As a last resort if the discolouration is serious, one can do laser treatment.

Be it whatever method of treatment you choose, it will affect you only at a gradual pace. Note that sunlight should be avoided if you have melasma. While going out, one can simply use make up or cosmetic to cover it.
