Well railroads are considered to be much better as compared to canals and steamboats because they are a much faster and safer mode of transportation. The cost of rail transportation is also far cheaper than canals and steamboat transportation.

Rail transportation basically is a way of transport for passengers and goods, which is particularly planned to run along railways. A standard railway track comprises of two corresponding steel rails, normally attached vertically to beams, which are known as sleepers or tiers. The rails along with their vertical beams are generally placed on a foundation which is made up of solid earth and gravel in a layer of ballast to avoid the track from crumpling as the surface tends to settle as time passes by underneath the load of the vehicles passing above. The vehicles passing above these rails are setup in the form of a train.
