How Are Metals Produced?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Most of the times, metals are  extracted from the earth by various methods which primarily include mining. The substance that has been taken out from the earth is in its raw form, and with the use of various methods the metal that we see in our day-to-day life is being produced.

The method that you can use to take out usable metal from a raw one depends upon the particular metal. If we take the example of iron that is  produced from  iron ore, iron has to go to get treated in the blast furnace in which the temperature is approximately 2000 degrees Celsius. In the furnace iron ore and some flux are fed into the top part of the furnace, and during this period a blast of hot air  is forced into the furnace from the bottom; and with some other reactions, iron is  produced.
