When we met I knew he was going to the navy but I fell in love with him and now this distance is taking its tow. Its expensive to travel all the time plus I want to be married yet I love my family and I'm not sure about following him in his navy career.

Long Distance relationships can work very well, if you truly, madly, deeply love the other person and have the guts to wait for him. You would have to leave your family in any case once you get married. So better get married to someone who you think is best. Just think on those lines and decide for yourself whether you would be able to live without him, if you decide otherwise.

Yes Long Distance relationships can work. If you really like the person and in love with the person of course long distance relationship can work. If you really love him then do what you have to, to stay with him. And you can still visit your family after marriage. So do what you really think is best.
