Is Buying An Original Piece Of Art Work Worth The Money?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

If you really appreciate art then no doubt you will have one or two original pieces in your collection. It can be a difficult decision whether to fork out the money to buy an original rather than a print. The reason people buy originals is really in the hope that the artist will become better well known and the painting itself will increase in value.

If you have a good eye you can probably pick up an artists early work for under one to two hundred pounds. But this can be hard to spot. And there is no real way to gauge if the artist will do well.

The best thing to do is buy art that you like! there is no point hanging a picture you hate on the wall because you've heard it'll be worth a fortune.

If you do spot an original piece you like and the artist seems to be doing well then there go for it. There are some galleries and government initiatives that will offer you 0% credit on buying art.
