We cooked with it , bathed with it, cleaned with it.........it was our only water source.

Did you boil the water before you drank it? Is there a dairy, hog, chicken, turkey....etc. Farm, up the road from where the house is? Is there a new waste water treatment plant nearby? Are there waste water pipes under ground that are broken and leaking into the spring? Can wild animals, such as deer, have access to the spring? It could be a number of things.

Amazing!!!! I guess, your body has developed a strong immune system that is why you did not get sick. I think it is good to be exposed to something that is not so clean so we develop strong bodies. I remember as a child how we would run on the earth barefooted. We did not get sick. Eggs are being sold in the market under intense heat of the sun but salmonella is unheard of in that place.

No we never boiled the water before we drank it.. There was a farm up the road with a few cows. We had the "wild cat" sewage system, a pipe with all the waste emptied into a small stream in the back yard. It's illegal to do that today but this was the way they did things in the 50's when the house was built. It's located in a rural area in Pennsylvania
