According to this very interesting website Revere was joined by two other men called Prescott and Dawes. When they were all arrested, these two managed to escape, but Revere didn't.

Its doubtful Paul Revere yelled the British were coming since they were all British! Probably ; "The Redcoats were coming" Most of that comes from the poem which was written about the ride.
