The first place to look for free blueprints for wooden wheel chair ramps has got to be the Internet. Just type what you are looking for into any search engine and see what you come up with. If you don’t get what you are looking for straight away, try another search engine.

Another option is to ask a wheel chair maker - they may give you the plans for free, especially if you buy a wheel chair from them. A hardware store is a third option, if you buy the materials that you need from them, they may let you have the plans for nothing.

When you get hold of your blueprints for your wheel chair ramps, there are some things that you need to check before you go ahead and make them. Firstly, will the end product be suitable for where you want to use them, and will there be enough space to accommodate them? For example, if you need to be able to get a wheel chair up a step and into a door, there needs to be sufficient room in the door area for this to become possible, unless you want to make the job even bigger and start reconstructing around your doors.

The other thing you need to look at is the maximum incline of the ramp. That should be no more than a ratio of 1:12. This means that there should be one foot of ramp length for every inch of floor rise. Any steeper than this could be dangerous, particularly if you live in an area that gets lots of snow and ice. For that scenario, you will probably be better off with wheel chair ramps that have a ratio slope of 1:16 or even 1:20.

The National Building code and ADA(American Disability Association) specifies a standard 1:12 slope design (4.67 degree angle) on all permanently installed wheelchair ramps. What this means is, for every inch of rise from the beginning of the ramp to the end of the ramp there must be at least 12" of ramp. So for a rise of 14" from beginning of the ramp to the end you would require at least 14' of ramp. I've seen 1:10 ramps built due to space limitations, but this is undesirable and I believe 1:8 is the maximum slope allowed..I would also check the local codes in your area....

What is the maximum raise per foot that a electric wheel chair can climb and still be safe?

Build several upright frames out of wood that are sturdy enough to hold the ramp and make them of a gradual increasing height. Connect them at the top and the bottom of the frames and then use a strong wood to lay down onto the frame. If you want to make a railing, make it attach to some of the frames and use 2 by 4s to make the railing.

It would have been better if you had provided some more details about what type of ramp you want and other measurements. Anyway, no problem. A ramp should be 1 foot in length for every inch which is actually called run. So, for example if the doorway is 25 inches above ground level then the ramp should be 25 feet long. The wedge that you will use at the doorway can be shorter if you want. It would be better if you don't use moveable item,as create a lot of problem later. For more help kindly view the website below. It will be of great help. God Bless!!

16:1, so one unit vertical for every 16 units horizontal travel.

The flatter the angle the better, the longer the ramp the lesser the angle. The shorter the steeper, anything ranging from 0 to 30 degrees is easy to go up come down, 45 or over you need to be a stuntman on a motorbike

Go online to the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act).  Also Home Depot and Lowes have plans for such projects.

Being a contractor I suggest you check with the building inspector..  Handicap stuff is really strict on code..  In mich its no more then one inch of fall for every foot of run.

Almost like building a set of stairs get the pitch you need cut 3 stringers put one on each end one in the middle cover with 3/4 inch plywood and then put some non slip material on it. Also use treated wood to make sure it doesn't rot. Then put some railings on it
