If by your question on hotmail addresses you mean you wish to search for someone with a specific Hotmail address you might want to try Hotmail Member Directory. Here you can view Hotmail member profiles with details such as Public nickname, gender and an 'about me' section. This lists those Hotmail members who expressly agreed to have their names listed.
An additional Hotmail feature is checking various other email accounts using your Hotmail account. You do so by configuring your other POP accounts in Hotmail.
If attempting to look up old friends I recommend you join networking sites such as the popular Orkut, Facebook or MySpace sites.
