It is normal for all the dog breeds to shed their hair in spring. Some breeds are high-shedders, and continue shedding in all the seasons. But dogs kept in houses most of the time, may shed their hair in any season. The reason is that they are not exposed to the sun all the time, and may not follow the natural seasonal pattern for shedding.

I said a chinchilla not a dog, I really need to know the answer why my chinchilla is shedding I don't know if he's sick or if he is just shedding because it is in the winter time.

I was going to say, wasn't this question about chinchillas?? The answer is yes, they do shed, but not seasonally as in 'wintertime', more like around every 3 months. So it shouldn't be a problem if your chinch is shedding, but if it's losing all of it's fur, I'd suggest seeing a vet.

Hello, my name is Lorelei and my male chins name is giz-mo. i have had him for 13 yrs and he has been laying down and shedding alot more then i have seen him do before (in the last 2 weeks). I also had a female chin for 5 yrs. she had 2 babies 7 weeks ago and her and her babies suddenly died a few days ago from an unknown virus that i am still determined :( He is not showing any of the same symptoms they did before they passed so could he just simply be old?
