Rain fall is caused by the precipitation in the air. The water from creaks dams etc. Avaporates an it goes into the cloud. When the cloud becomes too heavy water falls out of it.
Snow comes from the same thing except its colder and the rain freezes on its way down.

Rain is caused by moisture in the clouds, Lightning is made by the moisture rubbing against the other moisture until it has enough electricity, and makes a big flash. Hope that helped!
