Brighton & Hove is a chief tourist destination and is the main economy of Brighton and Hove. Tourism provides employment to around 17,000 people. Approximately 2,000 people are indirectly connected to the industry.

In the eastern region of the plain area one third of all jobs are reported to be directly or indirectly dependent on tourism. The overall aim of tourism is to maintain, expand and render as much as support possible to achieve economic benefits. It also emphasizes on maintaining and enhancing the natural environment and to provide better facilities for the entertainment of people.

Putting together tourism facilities, mainly in the coastal area not only helps to build but also maintains a "critical mass" of appeal for tourism. It has been concluded that tourism plays an important role to maintain and generate economy in both urban as well as rural areas.
