 The name of the largest city in population is Greater Tokyo Area. This is a large metropolitan area in Japan. The population strength of this area is around 35,327,000 according to Japan Statistics Bureau (2005) estimation. It covers an area about 13,500 Km2.

The Greater Tokyo Area is very rich in its transportation sector. It has two airports namely Tokyo International Airport and Narita International Airport. On the other hand, it has an excellent network for rail communication. There are almost 136 individual rail lines covering the Greater Tokyo Area along with a systematic chain of 1000 to 1200 stations all over the area. The railway network in Great Tokyo Area is such a widespread that it can be considered as the largest network in world's perspective in terms of daily passenger carrying capabilities as well as physical length of the network.

The city area consists of major commercial arrangements like Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro and Ginza. The city area is covered with various rivers, among them Arakawa and Tama River are significant.
