    Can A Landlord Refuse To Renew Your Lease If They Are Renovating The Complex And Want You To Move In The New Dwelling So They Can Fix The Old One But Want You To Pay The New Rent?

    Complex is under a face lift and new management is charging $200 more on rent for small things.

    That is a question you need to ask someone with legal knowledge. I am not saying that there are not people here that cannot answer your question and do so correctly, but just for surety. I would think a landlord has the right to not renew anyone's lease.  How well do you appreciate the area? Are you able to handle the new rent or find another dwelling in another place. Has your landlord been a decent one?  Do you think you can find another area of town that you enjoy. You will have to make the choice, but in the meantime weight your odds. Best wishes

      YES, THE LANDLORD CAN REFUSE TO RENEW YOUR LEASE. The key here is that the contract is up. He has the right to make money, profit because that is why he is in business. You have the right to stay where you are or move. You do have a choice. I personally think that it is not fair, especially if you cannot afford the new rent or price increase.
      P.s. If your lease were not up, he would have to put you up in the renovated apartment for the rent that you were paying. No increase until lease is up.
