Beatrix Potter is one of the most celebrated writers of children's stories and the creator of such immensely popular characters as Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck, Tommy Brock, Jeremy Fisher and Mrs. Tiggy-winkle. Beatrix Potter lived in Hawkshead, Cumbria where museums like the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the World of Beatrix Potter exhibition dedicated to her legacy are located.

The Beatrix Potter Gallery museum is situated in a seventeenth century building on Main Street which was the office of Potter's husband William Heelis. The Gallery managed by the National Trust houses the largest collection of Potter's original drawings and writings; one can also learn about the writer and observe the artifacts related to the writer's life.

The World of Beatrix Potter is a place where one can see the characters of her tales come alive in 3-dimensional settings complete with lightings and sound effects along with film displays. The house where Potter lived situated on Hilltop Hill, Hawkshead is also visited by many fans of the writer.
