Where Can I Find Teacup Yorkie In A Shelter In Ny?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

I think you would have a hard time finding a yorkie puppy, let alone requesting a small one.  There is no such thing as a teacup.  That is just a made up term by puppy mills and unethical breeders to sale their puppies.  There are smaller than the average but they are just the runts and quite often they need increase medical care.  The Yorkie is a very small breed.  I have a 4.5lb Pomeranian and believe me 4.5lbs is very small.  Also the good breeders will tell you that they are unsure of what size a puppy will be you never know,  just like with adults.  Not all tall adults were born long.  My son was only 19 inches at birth and now he is over 6ft tall and still growing.  You will have to check the shelters web sites frequently and maybe you will be lucky to find a puppy but I can guarentee that they will consider small under 10lbs.  Yorkies normal range I think is 3-7lbs.
