My dog strains as if he has to go, is only passing bloody mucusy stuff, no stool at all. He's 10-12 years old, black lab, well cared for, etc.

What did the dog eat? whens the last time the animal has been wormed?how old is the dog? these are questions that are needed to be known to answer this question!! it could be a bad case of ring worm. or tape worm. i hate to be the barer of bad news,but this could also be because of a tumor.(lets pray not)get your dog to the vets !!!! don't waste time,ether of these causes could and will be harmful if not deadly to the dog.then again it could be a virus that the dog has picked up. still see the vet!!!!!!!!!!!
