    Buddhism -- Buddah (Sddhartha Gautama) Founded about 525 B. C. In India. It is an offshoot of Hinduism.
    Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism -- Founded by Nichiren Daishonin -- began A.D. 1253 in Japan. Modern: Tsunesaburo Makguchi in 1930, headquarters on Mt. Fuji, near Tokyo, Japan

        Both religions have their origins in northern India, Hinduism being much the older of the two, dating back to about 3,000 BC. It can certainly lay claim to being by far the oldest major religion still being practiced today.
