Are Cats Really Color Blind?

Yes, they are colour-blind as cats don't have the cone cells or Iodopsin pigment in the retina of their eyes which is responsible for coloured vision. Their eyes have only rod cells or Rhodopsin pigment which gives them only black and white vision and also vision in dim light. In human eyes both the cells are present so we can see all the seven colours of rainbow. But the rod cell are not very active in the case of Humans.

Cats are color blind, but as avid hunters are very in tune with fast quick movements (similar to that of prey) and just because they are color blind doesn't mean they can't see the difference b/t light and dark.

Cats can see only a few colors. The colors that you and me see are.....well we see in tones of colors but to a cat they can only see black, white, gray, blue, green, and red.I hope that helps.
