The term 'emancipation' describes the phenomenon in which somebody looses control over somebody and especially you can find the use of the word in the context of the act in which parents freed their children to lead their own life.

Taking view of the above mentioned description, the term the meaning of which you are asking about describes the kind of parents who perform the act of freeing their children. The phenomenon is applied especially when the parents use the concept when the children do not attend even the age of adulthood and with the act they gain some civil rights. Though this kind of right can be called universal, the definition varies from place to place and the jurisdiction of the particular area applies in particular case.
