Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Edison patented the light bulb on the 27th of January in the year 1880. Only that the patent was aimed in the name of the first incandescent light bulb. This came just two years, after he had set up his electronic company; the Edison Electric Light Company at New York City.

The public had the first presentation of the light bulb on New Years Eve in 1879 at Menlo Park. Although Edison wasn't the first one to invent the light bulb, he was the first to make it such, that it was safe and easy for domestic use. He also went ahead and bought a number of patents from all the people, who has previously invented variants of the electric bulb. Edison said that it was his dream to make electricty cheaper than candles.
