Ashby refers to a North American phase in Middle Ordovician geologic time, which formed the upper part of Chazyan, and lay above Marmor and below Porterfield.

Alexander of Ashby was a well-known British theologian and poet, who saw success and fame in the year 1220. Not much is known of his early historical past.

He was the author of many theological and historical texts in prose, especially a chronicle of England, which can still be seen spread over in manuscripts. Many think his poetry was an imitation of that of Ovid, but it greatly impressed Bale.
David Glynn Ashby was the name of a British Conservative Member of Parliament from 1983 to 1997 when he voluntarily stood down.

Sir John Ashby was the name of an English Admiral who served in the War of the League of Augsburg.
