How Might A Continent Split In Two?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Huge land masses such as continents move through "Plate Tectonics" or "Continental Drift". There a massive plates under the earths surface that move apart and together and cause the formation a mountains, volcanoes and the disasters such as earthquakes and tusnamis. This could also move continents apart just like what has happened in the meziozoic era of geologic time.

Plate tectonics explains how continents can drift apart. Massive plates lay beneath the Earth's crust, moving land masses. They move towards each other sometimes, and collide causing volcanoes, mountains, and other land forms to emerge, while at other times they move apart from one another. Although this process is very, very slow, Earth is also very, very old.
