Can Premature Babies Die?

With premature babies they are born sometimes way too early and that means that they have not had the right nutrients to survive. They are not meant to be out of the womb until a certain age and so if they are born premature then yes there is a chance that they could die. Even if they survive, many premature babies have problems for the rest of their lives including breathing problems to more severe brain damage problems.

One problem which premature babies have is that they lose heat really quickly. This could lead to hypothermia which is what damages or even kills them. In the olden days premature babies would have died eventually, but these days with better technology, doctors can keep more babies alive and help them to get better. However, not all will live healthy lives and that has sparked a debate amongst experts as to whether or not some premature babies should be saved.
