For a Banking and Finance student it is very important to know that in what areas of his field he wants to make strategic planning. If the goal is to be the Strategic Planner for the bank as a whole, the most important things you must know that you should have good grasp on different internal and external factors which your bank is facing. For a bank the most important thing to plan is how interest rates will behave in short run and long run. For an Strategic planner it is most important thing to remember that he must have capability to understand the dynamics of the economy and must have insight into the future.

Insight into the future is probably the most important thing which a strategic planner must have because it is where the actual talent of an strategic planner speaks. Also for an effective strategic planner it is necessary that he must have knowledge of what his bank is doing and how things can be improved to be competitive in the market.

On the whole analysis of factors like internal processes, economic events, legal environment of the country, major technological shifts in the respective industry are few of the factors or elements which must be integrated while making an strategic plan.
