Should People Have To Speak English In America?

I don't think it should be a requirement for visitors, but it makes sense that anyone wanting to live in the USA should learn English.  I'm not saying they should be required to speak it all the time, and I have nothing against people conversing with friends and relatives in their native tongue; but coming to the USA and trying to live here without learning English is as silly as an American going to France and trying to live there without learning French.  I feel like requiring people to pass the citizenship exam in English is not an unfair rule.

I just saw a report on this topic a few days ago on Fox news. Did you know 20% of Americans speak a different language while their at home? That's 1 in 5 legal Americans! I don't think we should require people to learn, they will learn on their own If they want to take advantage of the benefits of knowing English. It's good to experience different cultures anyway. That's what makes America such the wonderful melting pot that it is. I don't think we should force any one to accept our culture, which is the path we're headed on when we try to force them to learn English. What are we going to do next? Force them to learn how to walk as well as talk like Americans too?

Damn straight. Not saying all you have to speak is english but you had better speak good english at work or anywhere you interact with the public. Speak what ever language you want at home. I'm sick and tired of going to places and all you hear is jungle music and monkey noises from behind the counter. If i managed people and the public could see or hear them, they would have to speak english. You would have to be fluent in order to keep your job cause it could kill someone if you messed up cause you can't read english.
