While browsing through the Internet for the type of exercises to be done to shape up the body,i read that the exercises should be repeated with 2-3sets.is it like we should do one exercise with 2-3 sets on a particular day or continue with one weight for several days and then go for the next weight.

First of all, you must understand for which thing you're doing the exercise either you want to increase your weight or decrease it. If you want to increase the weight then you must warm-up your body first by doing jumping, jogging etc. And then you should work out with weight for 15 days and then increase the weight a little.
