There are twelve major vineyards and wineries in the United Kingdom. A winery is a factory where wine is produced. Of these, one is in Wales and one is on the Isle of Wight. The English Wines Group, which produces the famous Chapel Down range of wines, is one of the most famous wineries in England. The others include the Davenport Vineyards, which run organically-managed vineyards in the counties of Kent and East Sussex, the Sandyford Vineyard in Essex, The Heart of England in Stratford-upon-Avon (birthplace of the playwright William Shakespeare) in Warwickshire, Carr Taylor in Sussex, English Wine on the Isle of Wight, The Vineyard at Stockcross in Berkshire, Bow-in-the-Cloud Vineyard in Wiltshire, Three Choirs Vineyards in Gloucestershire, Cwm Deri in Wales, Denbies Wine Estate in Surrey and the Sharpham Vineyards in Devon. There are others like English Wine Centre (East Sussex), English Wine Producers (Market Harborough), Vinopolis, Viticulture UK and Petravin (Surrey).
