For selecting a new skateboard follow guidelines.
• Check how much money is available for the skateboard. Decks without any graphics are lot cheaper than the one who does not have blank deck. If the money is not the problem then go for the fancy one that has graphics on the bottom.
• In order to buy a cheap skateboard people compromise on quality, so don't ever compromise on quality. Acquire a good quality deck of good companies and brands. Avoid purchasing K-Mart, Wal-Mart, etc. skateboards. Try to purchase a skateboard directly from a company or go to a skate shop. Few decks are better than others deck. Some good decks are Element, Zero and Flip. Element generally makes a thinner deck, so it has a chance that it might break if advanced tricks are done.
• Ensure that the bearings are accurate for skateboarder, the bearings are grade from 1-9 (1, 3, 5, 7 and 9). The higher the grades of the skateboard the higher is the chance of correct and precise. The high grade skateboards last long, and obviously move a lot smoother, faster, and quieter and spin more correctly and fast. The best grade for beginner's first skateboard will possibly be 5 or 7.

When your buying a deck look at the size before the graphics i like decks about 30 31 inches by 7.30 7.5 inches wide and that's also a good size to learn on and if you can look at how many plays it has if your liter get a deck with less plays and if your heavier get a deck with more plays.
