What Are The Divisions In Boxing?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The divisions in boxing is mainly based on the weight of the boxer and according to the weight the International Olympic committee has approved the following classification: light flyweight, flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight, heavyweight and super heavyweight.

All these classification are being done on the basis of the weight of the boxer as the governing body wants to provide equal opportunities to every one in the fray. If a light flyweight category of boxer whose weight should be under forty-eight kilograms started fighting with a boxer of super heavyweight category who is approximately double of him, the result is, barring some miracles, obvious to everyone.

This categorisation is applicable to men's category only and there is yet to be any weight division in the women boxing.
