2 Male Hamsters Found Dead In Cage...what Could Have Happened?
I have 3 separate cages of hamsters. They were all fine recently...then just tonight I checked one of the cages that housed 2 males and discovered them both dead in opposite corners of the cage...what possibly could have happened. I didn't see any physical damage on either of them....although they were both hard as a rock when I picked them up? Is that normal for a hamster to get hard and what causes that? Anybody have any idea?
I could not find a site that specifically answers this question because there are several reasons for a hamster to die like this. Here is a site on hamster care and illness. Hope this helps. Www.hamsterific.com/IllnessGuide.cfm
Wow. One of them might of caught a disease, and spread it to the other male. Make sure to clean your cage thoroughly and then spray with disinfectent. Hope the other doesn't catch it.
P.S. I used to have a female hampster, Bonnita. She was one of two brand new hampsters I got for Christmas (the other was a male named Kibble). One day I found her and her babies dead in there cage, and Kibble looking horribley ill. I found out it was something in the food, maybe you should get a new brand
P.P.S This happened with Finia and Lightshow too (my goldfish)
