Why Did My Dog Throw Up Yellow Bile?

There are many causes of vomiting in dogs.  Common causes include dietary indiscretion, foreign body obstruction, infectious diseases, gastric ulceration, toxin exposure, liver disease, kidney disease, and severe stress.  Many times vomiting is mild and self-limiting.  Withhold food and water for at least 8-12 hours then slowly reintroduce small amounts of water, then if the dog holds it down small amounts of a bland diet--boiled chicken, boiled rice, etc.  If your dog is vomiting profusely or it lasts longer than 12 hours seek veterinary medical attention.
