I am in ventura California and i found this white butterfly/ moth looking creature but I'm not sure what it is. It is rather small but kinda medium sized.

It is most likely the white witch moth. It has the largest wingspan in the lepidopteran family. Its scientific name is Thysania agrippina. It is generally found in Central America or South America. Like you said however that it is small, it could be another moth specie.
