    My Child Is A 17 Year Old. Can I Go To Jail For Her Being Truant In The State Of Texas?

    I'm not sure... But I was pretty sure that in every state 16 is the age the student is responsible for theirselves to show up to school. That's when they can decide for themselves to drop out or get a job. (I dropped out at 17 in Michigan.) I am in college now, so don't worry :)
    Please, force her to get her GED and go to college. Don't let her education end at her junior year.

      It depends on the state in most states a person must stay at school until they are 17 or in the case of Texas 18. If she doesn't go to school yes you are responsible. In Texas however 17 year olds can dropout if they are going to GED preparation instead and you have given permission for this.
