The Olympics started as athletic competition between various cities of ancient Greece. These games started in the year 776 BC in the city of Olympia Greece. The exact origins of these games are unknown however there are several myths associated. It is said that there was a race held at Olympia that was won by Heralkles of Heracles who then enacted that they would be celebrated every four years.
