If your first consideration for becoming an architect is the financial reward, then I strongly recommend that you seek other professions. The number of well-paid architects IN THE WORLD can be counted on your two hands and maybe a few toes. Neither should fame be a factor in your decision. (Quickly: Name 5 living architects.)
Considering the arduous path and multi-discipline studies that you'll have to take, it is not for anyone who is not consumed by a burning desire within to create and to improve our physical surroundings; and who also happen to possess certain amount of talent. You'll be called upon to act as artist, engineer, economist, politician, psychiatrist, trouble-shooter AND sales-person to achieve any kind of success.
No, this is not one that will make you rich. But it's richly rewarding if you appreciate a sense of order and beauty, and the ability to change the environment for the better through your hard work and talent.
