The three teams relegated from the English Premiership in the two thousand and five, six season were Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City.

North East side Sunderland finished the season in twentieth and last place, after managing only one home win and two away wins all season.  Out of their thirty eight league matches, they lost twenty nine of them, managing to accumalate a pitiful fifteen points.

West Bromwich Albion were relegated in nineteenth position, finishing the season with a thirty point return form their thirty eight league matches.  It was only the season previous that West Brom managed to become the first team not to be relegated despite being bottom at Christmas.

Birmingham City were considered by many to be too good to go down, but after suffering with injuries for the majority of the season, the Blues were down after finishing eighteenth after only recording eight league wins, finishing the season on thirty four points.
