It is sometimes said that a new generation is growing up which is so dependent on phones and other technology that they are becoming less good at face to face communication. It's also said (for this one I think I've seen evidence) that some people are almost unable to make basic decisions for themselves, but check everything by phoning a friend. Also, use of text messaging is most definitely helping to create a generation which can't communicate effectively in writing.
